Femmes in EDM
For the longest time, femme voices in EDM were silenced and simply not seen as equal to their masc counterparts. Through tireless effort and mutual support, it has become easier for afab individuals to be recognized and properly credited for their work. In this series, we will be highlighting some outstanding femme producers and reviewing some of their recent releases!
Starting off with the iconic Australian DJ Alison Wonderland, her latest track “Anything” with Valentino Khan has reached 10,6 million streams on Spotify. With over 1 million monthly listeners, Alison Wonderland has grown to be one of the biggest names in EDM. Combining Khan’s notable House elements and Wonderland’s headbang-worthy beats and drops, “Anything” beautifully portrays stylistic components from both producers.

One of my absolute favourite DJs and producers on this planet is Isabelle Rezazadeh, aka Rezz. Known for her hypnotic bass, Rezz has established herself firmly in the EDM music scene. Her most recent release was the historic collab with Deadmau5 “Hypnocurrency”. Beautifully mixing the two artists’ styles, you can tell the collab was just meant to be. Reaching over 2 million plays on Spotify since its release in April, it is building its way up to the charts.

Holy sh*t, when I tell you I have fallen head over heels for LŪN I am not exaggerating! With her “gothbounce” sound, you can’t not fall for her energy. LŪN is the well-known and loved electro-pop singer Lights’ alter alias, showing a side of the producer previously unheard. Reaching over 200 thousand streams on Spotify, her current leading track is “demolition (Ruined by Glass Petals)”. If you’re looking for some new nasty bass, do yourself a massive favour and check her out!
